Carmel Valley

Carmel Valley is one of the most desirable areas in San Diego due to its convenient coastal location and its award-winning schools. Carmel Valley, positioned roughly half-way up the San Diego County coastline, is convenient to almost everything. To the immediate south lie Sorrento Valley, University of California- San Diego (UCSD) and La Jolla’s Golden Triangle, which are large employment centers complete with shopping malls and many fine restaurants. A quick twenty minute drive south brings you to Mission Bay, Sea World, Balboa Park, the Zoo, the airport and downtown San Diego. To the west are the beautiful Torrey Pines Reserve with its lovely beach and the quaint village of Del Mar. To the north is the upscale community of Rancho Santa Fe with its polo fields and golf courses.

One of the newest communities in San Diego, Carmel Valley is a master planned community composed of residential neighborhoods, commercial offices, retail, restaurants and hotels. The housing in Carmel Valley consists of a wide variety of single-family residences from starter homes from $700,000 to luxury homes over $3 million, condominiums starting from $300,000 and rental apartment complexes. Carmel Valley is conveniently located near the intersection of Interstate-5 and SR-56 highways with easy access to beaches, business parks and excellent hospitals. The area was originally called “North City West” as it is the northwestern-most part of the City of San Diego.

People move to Carmel Valley in North County San Diego for the schools, which are some of the best in the nation. It may surprise new residents that there are several school districts that serve Carmel Valley.

The Solana Beach School District covers the elementary schools in the northern part of Carmel Valley. Currently operating Solana Pacific for 5th & 6th grade only, and Solana Highlands and Carmel Creek Elementary Schools in Carmel Valley (as well as other schools in the surrounding cities), the district has plans to open 2 more elementary schools in the future.

The Del Mar School District covers the elementary schools in the southern part of Carmel Valley. This district has 2 elementary schools in Del Mar just west of I-5, and 6 elementary schools in Carmel Valley, including Sage Canyon, Torrey Hills, Ocean Air, Carmel Del Mar, Ashley Falls, and Sycamore Ridge.

The middle school and high schools for Carmel Valley are Carmel Valley Middle SchoolCanyon Crest Academy and Torrey Pines High School, all operated by the San Dieguito Union High School District.

 

Del Mar

Del Mar is a small seaside city located 20 miles north of downtown San Diego. Del Mar (Spanish for “of the sea” or “by the sea”) is best known for its beautiful weather and beaches, as well as the county fair and world-famous thoroughbred racetrack. Hosted at the Del Mar Fairgrounds every summer, the San Diego County Fair is an old-fashioned celebration of crafts, agriculture, carnival rides and food. The Beach Boys paid homage to the town’s popular beaches in their hit “Surfin’ USA,” while Bing Crosby immortalized the Del Mar Turf Club in his 1941 song “Where the Turf Meets the Surf.”

Solana Beach

What the delightful, seaside community of Solana Beach (population of 13,700 and land of 3.5 square miles) lacks in size, it more than makes up for in charm. Bordered by Del Mar to the south, Rancho Santa Fe to the east, Encinitas to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the west, Solana Beach is easily accessible from Interstate 5, Highway 101 and the train. Rancho Santa Fe

Rancho Santa Fe is the most affluent community in San Diego. Tucked away four miles inland from the ocean, just north of Del Mar off of the Interstate-5 freeway, Rancho Santa Fe is known for its privacy & exclusivity and multimillion-dollar level properties set on acreage.

North San Diego County Coastal Community of Encinitas
